Around ten people, who usually work from home, joined our first pop-up coworking morning at The Rocks Hotel, Dunbar. "I'm fed up staring at four walls", "I'm talking to myself", "I want to be around other people", "I want someone to ask me how my project is going", are just some of the reasons people gave for coming along yesterday.
Once we'd ironed out some issues with the wifi, people worked away, some quietly chatting with others. We moved to the bar mid-morning for a coffee break and to discuss 'what next?' We agreed to hold a regular coworking session every Thursday morning for the next month or so, and see how it goes.
Several people also talked about the difficulties of setting up and maintaining websites for their businesses - so Coworking Dunbar is planning to organise some skills sharing sessions in future. Probably one focusing on 'website builders' such as Squarespace, Weebly, Strikingly (on which this site runs) and Wix, and another session tackling Wordpress including the OurLocality platform run by Sustaining Dunbar. Watch this space, or to be sure to be kept in the loop, join the Coworking Dunbar Network.
